Race for the Cure - Columbus, Ohio

The Columbus edition of the Race for the Cure is about to take place this Saturday, May 15.  What started out as an 800 runner/walker event held at Ohio State University a few years ago has grown into one of the largest events in the country.

Some 45,000 or more runners and walkers are expected to line up on Saturday morning to wind their way through 3 miles of downtown Columbus to finish in front of the State Capital.

What's really fun about this race, are the people who come out to cheer you.  At various parts of the course you will be greated by a rock band and who can forget the bikers reving their engines at about the last mile.

This race is not about running fast times, but rather about contributing to the efforts of those who are trying to make break throughs in cancer treatment, or who are trying to make others more comfortable in their last days.

So, if you are near Columbus this Saturday come on out and witness the party.

Congratulations - Race for the Cure

Congratulations to all Speedy Sneakers members who ran in the Race for the Cure in downtown Columbus.

This year's race drew more than 46,000 runners and walkers - what an awesome site.

Perhaps next year we'll break the 50,000 participant mark - won't that be something.
